Airport-style screening for Jersey rail commuters

Our U.S. Department of Homeland Security has launched security screening for Manhattan-bound rail commuters from New Jersey. There are metal detectors and X-ray machines. You can, however, keep your shoes on (it's sad that this has become extraordinary) and not remove change from your pockets.

Fortunately the checks did not take long.

Just FYI, you are not obligated to remove shoes in airports either, but they phrase it in such a way that twists your arm or makes you think it's required. I never remove my shoes, but then again it's a guaranteed pass into secondary.

I think getting checked is not as bad as it's been exaggerated to be.

Heck I was selected, inspected and rejected. Nothing to it.

Today was the first day they were actually checking people at Exchange Place PATH. The have two screening machines and people did back up. I find the attitude of the screening personal to be the most annoying (this goes double for the airport)

But for the PATH, you just need to wait for your bag to be xray'ed, but since they are sniffing for explosives you don't have to take out your cell/ipod/keys etc.
