Why can't they just do what Mexico City does, which is to work archaeological finds into the fabric of the underground station? For instance in Zocala, near the Centro, when tranferring trains, pedestrians walk past open air exhibitions of Aztec ruins from the original temple (which was destroyed in the Spanish conquest)? Wouldn't it be cool to walk through the new station and see a side exhibit with the original wall encased in glass and a small sign with info about the history of the site?
I suppose it depends which way the wall is facing. FYI, the new line in Athens has similar archaeological displays.
