Is this a hint?

Why do the British colonialists hate mass transit?

For the second time in a few months, workers have uncovered a stone wall that archaeologists believe has stood near the southern tip of Manhattan since New York was a British colony. Like the one found in November, this wall stands in the way of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's plan to replace the South Ferry station, where the No. 1 train turns around to head back uptown.

Why can't they just do what Mexico City does, which is to work archaeological finds into the fabric of the underground station? For instance in Zocala, near the Centro, when tranferring trains, pedestrians walk past open air exhibitions of Aztec ruins from the original temple (which was destroyed in the Spanish conquest)? Wouldn't it be cool to walk through the new station and see a side exhibit with the original wall encased in glass and a small sign with info about the history of the site?

I suppose it depends which way the wall is facing. FYI, the new line in Athens has similar archaeological displays.
