No love for Boston transit?

Transit ridership in Boston is apparently decreasing, even though it is increasing in most of the rest of the country (MTA statistics).

Except for like, the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, where we've had a couple fare increases and service cuts to make sure people don't ride transit!

Oh, and that really long strike last year! Ugh!

I found myself stuck in Boston for 10 days in March. I had to ride the T and hated it. As someone that has riden (and loves) the NYC metro, I was hoping to find Boston's version just as enjoyable. I was wrong. I couldn't buy a T Card, but had to buy tokens. The lines are very confusing, which train stops at which stop. Also, the trains are slow. Good luck to Boston if they can fix it.

Yeah, here in the Twincities Mpls/StPaul ridership has dropped +6% even BEFORE the fare hike and service cuts. The strike killed us and the previous set of service cuts hurt more. Both Mayors sat on their thumbs while Governor Pawlenty destroyed the system with budget cuts and union busting.
