Amsterdam's Historic Streetcars

The picture below is of one of the historic streetcars from Amsterdam. While I know many cities kept their historic streetcars, Amsterdam is actually running this one across regular tram lines (of which there are many) [San Francisco does this on the F-Market line - RJ]. Best I could tell, it was being rented out for tours, so that people could tour the city of Amsterdam by historic streetcar using the city's many active tram line rails.

Yes, in SF we have the historic F Line, where we buy cars from other locations and run them down market street. There's a link above about how enormously popular these have become (as alternatives to the over-crowded cable cars). The Italian Car even has italian adverts on the inside.

Zurich and Blackpool have some historic vehicles. Blackpool's 1920s double deckers still form the bulk of their fleet, although they have a few earlier ones.

You can ride historic streetcars in Brussels and Antwerp on Sundays from Easter to the end of September. For Brussels details, check the Urban Transport Museum's Web site : www.mtub.be
