Tourist maps

From sister-blog DCSOB, an example of how not to make it easy for tourists to find their way around:

If you have a neighborhood nicknamed the Combat Zone, don't mark it off as such on your tourist maps.

I've seen people in New York City pull that one on tourist maps!

I think we here in DC should go the other way: label Anacostia "Happy fun Nighttime Area, Great for Stargazing!" Thin the herd, etc., etc...

The combat zone used to be where all the strip clubs and porn shops were. Now there are maybe 1 or 2 of each and it is mostly chinese restaurants and the millenium towers now. It's pretty funny that it's on the tourist maps, I've seen that map before but I never looked closely at it.
