Makin' money

Well, not all that much money. The consistantly derided River Line in South Jersey:

The service is expected to draw 2,850 round-trip passengers each day during its first year and bring in $2 million in revenue; officials estimate it will cost $20 million to operate in the first year.

What do they pay these people for results like this? They're more heavily subsidized than a wheat farm in Alaska run by Halliburton and staffed by the disabled minority children of congressmen.

Let's see -- $2,000,000 - $20,000,000 = -$18,000,000

Hmm... How is that "Makin' money", "not all that much" or otherwise?

You can "make money" without "covering costs"

So what's the projection of riders in 2025 or 2030?

Making a statement on the subsidy of a ridership forecast by picking what is usually the forecast's weakest year (year 1) is a little unfair.

Well, to make up that kind of money, they'd have to have 10 times as many riders. South Jersey doesn't look to have much more room for newcomers and as it is, the line is badly designed, politically placed and requires too many transfers for most people. Where do you propose all those riders come from?
