"Nextel Communications Inc. is pressing to be one of the most recognized name brands in the world, following its sponsorship of the NASCAR auto racing title with a deal to put its name on the high-profile monorail station at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Nextel, a Fortune 300 wireless communications company serving 293 of the top 300 U.S. markets, also will sponsor a four-car monorail train. Reston, Va.-based Nextel and the Las Vegas Monorail Co. will announce the sponsorship agreement in an event at the station Tuesday morning."

That a rhetorical question?
I can just imagine something like the Neiman-Marcus Friendship Heights station (which would actually make sense), but imagine the uproar as DoD employees pulled into the Lockheed Pentagon, or the Colt .45 Anacostia station. What about special interests? End Abortion Now Capitol South, perhaps?
... or the Ask Your Doctor About Celexa Medical Center Station.
It does make sense on some level, actually, given metro's push toward more advertising. Perhaps not on metro maps, but you could have individual station sponsorship inside the station, so that when you went into Metro Center all you saw were Hecht's advertisements....
It's all about the money, fellas.
monorail? haven't the good burghers of lv seen that classic simpsons episode?
