New meaning for the word "intermodal"

You've surely heard the phrase "Train to the plane," but what about the "train on the plane"?

Can't you just picture that? You look up, and flying over head is a 50 ton rail coach hanging from a helicopter?

A few years back IE (Irish Railways) ordered some new locomotives (the 201 class) built by General Motors in the US. While most of them came by ship, they wanted to get one delivered early for artisan training in the maintentance shops.

So they flew the thing across the Atlantic in a Russian tranport plane!

(I think the plane they used was an Antonov AN124 as mentioned in the article)
